Money and Myths
What are some of the money advice you have heard as a child?
- Money is the root of all evils.
- You shouldn't talk to your kids about money
- Girls can't handle money.
- Stock Market isn't for everybody
- I'm young - I don't need to worry about saving for retirement yet. / I'm old - it's too late for me to start saving for retirement.
- Saving is better than investing
- All debts are bad
- I don't have enough money to start investing
- Buying a house is always better than renting
Well, think again.
I want to create a safe space for adults and children alike to talk/ask/debate about money and money woes. This blog is my effort to build a platform to enable our kids to be financially independent as well as sharing my journey of learning and striving to stray out of the Rat Race of earning, spending, saving, spending, earning...
As of now I want to hear from you. What are your thoughts opinions, doubts, questions or fears regarding managing money or on the above myths?
Lots of love. Stay Tuned.
Great niche, waiting for upcoming posts.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Neelesh! I would wait to hear more opinions on the niche!
DeleteI do not earn huge money but I dream of having a mansion with all the upgraded technology and a big SUV. But on the contrary I seem quite satisfied with what I earn now. I have a fear of thinking about the future economy but on the contrary I do not want to change my job for a better financial position. I am not into rat race..being of a typical middle class mentality...
ReplyDeleteI totally relate to you though I guess the "quite satisfied" state is more of a social or cultural conditioning where we are raised to stay contented and not think of making big dreams a reality because "money is the root of all evils" (myth 1). So somewhere we are suppressing our dreams (mansion, technology, SUV). If we knew we had the resource to actually make those dreams a reality, would we still suppress them or enjoy the dream coming true?
